Liz Grant Liz is Assistant Principal for Global Health at the University of Edinburgh, and Director of one of the University’s five Global Academies which together focus on the intersection of global health, justice, environment, development and food security and agriculture. She is Director of the Zambia UK Health Workforce Alliance and a co-Director of the University of Edinburgh’s Global Compassionate Initiative.
In her role as Director of the Global Health Academy Liz has responsibility for the development and oversight of a suite of global health related online post graduate programmes and MOOCs specifically designed for students in low and middle income countries (LMIC); for global health partnerships with colleagues in LMIC communities, and for local and global advocacy for global health research into action.
She is one of the directors of the inter-sectorial award winning Masters in Global Challenges. Committed to strengthening primary health globally Liz co-directs an Online Masters of Family Medicine.
Liz is on the Board of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), and the Board of the World Federation of Academic Institutes of Global Health.
Liz chairs the CUGH Research Committee.
Liz’s research focuses on building community capacities, especially for care at the end of life in low income countries, the intersection of faith and health, and the health of the planet as it shapes human health.
She serves on the board of the International Advisory Board of the Indian Journal of Palliative Care, the Editorial Council of the Journal for Global Health and the Advisory Executive for the Scottish Government Global Health.
Previously Liz was the Senior Health Advisor for the International Development Division of the Scottish Government 2005-2008, and Community Health Advisor for the Kenyan Health sector 1997-2001.
