Budi Wardhana is currently assigned as the Deputy Head of The National Peatland Restoration Agency for Planning and Cooperation. He previously worked at WWF Indonesia, as Director for Policy, Sustainability and Transformation. 

His career began in 1989, as an assistant lecturer for Forest Products Technology at Forestry Department, Gadjah Mada University, in Yogyakarta. In 1991, the EMDI Project at the Ministry of Environment recruited him. In 1993, he was employed by the Ministry of Environment and spent twelve years of his career as government official; from functional staff as a policy analyst, up to middle managerial position as the Head of Division for Biosafety. In 2004, he received Chevening Award, a post-graduate scholarship from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the British Government, to study in the UK. His passion for nature, career background made him choose to pursue a Masters degree on International Development Policy, majoring on Environment and Development at the University of Manchester, England in 2005. In October 2006, he worked at Datamonitor a business intelligence company in Manchester, as Associate Researcher in Industrial Profile team. His main role was to develop profile of selected industries and companies producing environmental goods and services.
